Longtime friends, Emily & Robbie Ingwersen and Meg & Tim Barker founded MidCoast Barge Works in 2021 out of a shared love for the water and a dedication to good, hard work. MBW is founded around equitable and just values and a deep respect for the environmental waterways.

MEET THE MBW CREW

Emily Ingwersen (She/Her)

Emily currently holds a USCG 100 ton Inland Captain’s License with Auxiliary Sailing and Able Seaman Endorsements.  She has worked in the maritime industry on and off since she was a teenager, starting as a deckhand and working her way up to captain and marine engineer.   She currently captain’s her family’s 40’ catamaran, which they live on during the summer months.  Since 2010 Emily has run a residential construction company focused on building high performance homes for the average consumer.  Emily will share in the responsibilities of operating the barge and workboat along with business administration.

Rob Ingwersen (He/Him)

Rob has a passion for the water. He recently received his United States Coast Guard (USCG) 25 Ton Inland Master Captain’s License with an auxiliary sailing endorsement.  For the last ten years Rob has successfully managed a construction and development company that has seen annual growth. Rob is responsible for operating the barge and workboat part time, maintaining equipment and vessels, and customer relations including scheduling and estimating fees for service. 

Meghan Barker (She/Her)

Meghan has equal experience on sailing vessels and motor vessels, with the bulk of her time spent on the Midcoast and Downeast coasts of Maine. Meghan is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who runs a private practice in Belfast, ME. She has extensive experience in people relations, action planning, and quality assurance. Meghan shares responsibility for business management and administrative tasks.

Tim Barker (He/Him)

Tim currently holds a USCG 100 ton Inland Captain's License with Auxiliary Sailing and Towing Endorsements. In addition, he is certified as an Open Water Diver, Wilderness First Responder, and holds a Maine Guides License for both Recreation and Sea Kayaking. Tim works for the Hurricane Island Outward Bound School as the Director of Operations and Safety. As a member of MBW, Tim will share the responsibility of barge operation, maintenance, and business administration.
